Loving Like Jesus

Something I have been thinking about often lately is the way Jesus loves us.

He loves us Unconditionally.

He loves us in spite of our Sin.

He loves us in the midst of all our Wretchedness.

He loves us when we Reject Him.

Though we sin against Him, or turn away; He never leaves us. He carries us through the difficult times. He helps us to grow. He is self-sacrificing for us. He loves us regardless of our filth. He reaches out to us even when are in the midst of sin.

"For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth.  When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed." 1 Peter 2: 21-24

We will never be perfect in this world as Jesus was, but we can live by His example, striving to be like Him.

We are called to love others the way that Jesus loves us. This is something I have been convicted of recently.

I need to love others regardless of where they are spiritually. I need to love others even if they hurt me, instead of building walls to protect myself. I need to love others when they sin against me, forgiving them as Jesus forgives me. I need to love others in difficult times, not just be their friend when all is rosy and as it should be. I need to love others in the midst of their mess like Jesus loves me in the midst of mine. I need to be self-sacrificing, willing to love others as myself. I need to be willing to go outside of my comfort-zone to love others. I need to love others as Jesus loves me.

I pray that God will teach me to love others the way that Jesus loves me.
